18th Century Interpreters Are Needed for the 239th Anniversary Boston Tea Party Annual Reenactment
Sunday, December 16 at 4:00 pm
Presented by Old South Meeting House and The Boston Tea Party Ships™ & Museum
Join us as
Citizens of Boston to help create a colonial atmosphere at our annual Boston Tea Party Reenactment. Portraying Boston’s everyday citizens, you will help transport our guests back in time to a tense meeting in 1773 in a town on the eve of rebellion. This year, we are thrilled to announce the return of the Boston Tea Party Ships™ & Museum! Following our meeting of the Body of the People, you and our audience will proceed to Griffin’s Wharf to witness the Destruction of the Tea firsthand.
The
Citizens of Boston are expected to have a thorough understanding of the time period, particularly to the events leading up to the Boston Tea Party. The
Citizens of Boston are expected to follow authentic standards for 18th century Eastern Massachusetts clothing. Guidelines for attire and recommendations for additional historical resources will be provided in the confirmation packets.
Attendance at both an All-Cast Meeting and a Dress Rehearsal is REQUIRED of all volunteers.
This year’s program takes place in three parts: the Meeting of the Body of the People at Old South Meeting House, the Procession to Griffin’s Wharf, and the Destruction of the Tea about the Brig Beaver at the Boston Tea Party Ships™ & Museum.
Citizens of Boston will be assigned roles at a station in one of these three areas. Many roles will be stationed outdoors and will require standing. Speaking roles at the meeting and roles aboard the ships are cast separately.
Due to overwhelming interest,
space is limited on the Citizens of Boston crew. ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST PRE-REGISTER*. Preference will be given to those who have previously volunteered, are local, or have experience with similar events.
