Massachusetts Government Act

On May 20, 1774, the Massachusetts Government Act was passed by British Parliament to improve government regulations of the province of Massachusetts Bay Colony. The Patriots considered this one of the Intolerable Acts, for it was designed to control behavior, suppress the Patriots, remove their ability to appoint members to the Massachusetts Bay executive council, and return power to the King of England.
