The Battle of Bunker Hill took place on June 17, 1775. American troops entrenched themselves on Bunker Hill overlooking the city of Boston. At Bunker Hill, you can see the ships coming into Boston Harbor.
The British soldiers approached Bunker Hill in hopes that the rebels would retreat; however, they stood their ground. The British ships opened fire on the Americans, and the British soldiers tried to rush the hill. After three attempts to rush the hill, the Americans ran out of ammunition and were forced to partake in hand-to-hand combat. The British successfully took Bunker Hill on that third try, but 1,054 of their soldiers were wounded or killed.
