How to See Boston in 2 Days

If you’re traveling to Boston for a quick visit, planning ahead is key. Here's an itinerary that will help you to see the best of Boston in a short period of time.  This guide includes some of the most popular historic sites, museums and attractions that everyone should enjoy while spending 2 days in Boston. Day 1 Start your day at Boston’s Faneuil Hall & Quincy Marketplace. You can enjoy breakfast as you shop and stroll through the area. Learn about Faneuil Hall’s famous town meetings, where leaders such as Samuel Adams, James Otis and many more delivered impassioned speeches against British oppression. Then, explore Boston’s historic North End by traveling along the 2.5-mile Freedom Trail. This is the ultimate Boston walking trail, filled with famous points of interest. Start by taking a tour of the nearby Old State House, the oldest surviving public building in Boston. After your tour, walk to the Boston Massacre Site in front of the Old State House, marked by a cobblestone ring in the center of a traffic circle. Continue down the trail to see two historic cemeteries, including King’s Chapel Burying Ground and Granary Burying Ground, as well as the site of the first public school in America. Visit the Paul Revere House, home of famous patriot Paul Revere during the American Revolution, and the Old North Church, a National Historic Landmark. Next, stop by Copp’s Hill Burying Ground, where many notable Bostonians throughout history have been buried. For the perfect end to your first day in Boston, travel to the Bunker Hill Monument near the end of the Freedom Trail. The monument commemorates the Battle of Bunker Hill, which was the first major conflict between British and Patriot forces during the Revolutionary War. After an action-packed day, you’ll be ready to eat a delicious dinner at one of Boston’s well-known restaurants and head back to your hotel. Day 2 Swan Boats at Boston Public Garden Morning There’s nothing better than the sight of the Boston Public Garden’s natural beauty to start your second day in Boston. In this area, visit the Massachusetts State House, the Boston Athenaeum and enjoy the scenery of Boston Common. You can also give yourself an hour or so to stroll along the Charles River Esplanade and check out the historic houses on Beacon Hill. Be sure to see Acorn Street, one of the most photographed streets in the city and home to historic row houses. Afternoon After lunch, travel to the Boston seaport district. Here, you can visit the interactive Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum as well as the family-friendly Boston Children’s Museum.
